The federal Conservatives say they will do everything in their power to stop the increase in the Carbon Tax April 1st.
Kenora MP Eric Melillo says the Conservatives have always been opposed to the Carbon Tax, and the increase just shows how out of touch the Liberal government is.
“We going to do everything we can to put pressure on the government, forcing as many votes as we can, to try and give them an opportunity to vote to stop this tax hike,” said Melillo this week from Ottawa.
“Of course, in opposition, there’s only a certain extent we can do that, but we’re going to throw everything we have at them between now and April 1st.”
Melillo says the Conservatives are joining some of the leaders of the provinces encouraging the Liberals to take a pass on any hike.
“We’re calling on this government to stop this tax hike. Premiers right across the country, including Liberal premiers, are also joining the call for the government to listen to concerns of Canadians and stop this tax hike.”
Melillo says the Carbon Tax increase will amount to a 23 percent hike for fuel.
