Ontario’s Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy will unveil the details of this year’s provincial budget on Tuesday afternoon.
New funding for municipalities to build the infrastructure needed for new homes and a freeze on gasoline taxes are among the programs already revealed by the Ford government.
The Green Party is offering some of its suggestions.
Leader Mike Schreiner says it should include initiatives that create more affordable housing.
“Building homes that people can afford in the communities they love by investing, once again, in deeply affordable, nonprofit, co-op, social and supportive housing,” says Schreiner.
Schreiner is also looking for a climate action plan that rewards people who save energy and more funding for public services.
“Repair the public services that so many people in this province rely on daily by investing in our underfunded healthcare, education and childcare systems and making the investments to end legislated poverty.”
