The Fort Frances Museum is beginning work on a new strategic plan.
Its last plan expired in 2020.
Curator Danielle Marshall says the new plan will outline key objectives and goals for the next five years.
“This plan is a way to interact and engage with the community, to see what they want from us as a museum and to make sure our vision for the museum is what aligns with what the people in the community want,” says Marshall.
A consultant will assist with the strategy’s development.
Marshall says they will look into what programs are offered, compare them with other museums of similar size and how to bring services to the next level.
“We want to make sure that we’re looking forward in a way that the museum will be sustainable and a good bang for people’s expectations.”
“And how we engage with community members is really important because I want to make sure that people see themselves when they come to the museum. And even if they don’t see themselves directly, there’s something that they can relate to when they come here.”
Marshall says they are hoping to have a survey developed this spring.
Work on the strategy is expected to take about ten months to a year to complete.
