Fort Frances has secured provincial funding for two road projects.
Over $2 million will be used toward the reconstruction of a section of the four-laners on Third Street West between Central and York Avenues.
Another $1.6 million will go to fixing up another section of Scott Street, this time between Reid and Mosher Avenues
The funding is from the province’s Connecting Links program which helps municipalities maintain roads that provide links to the provincial highway network.
“This Connecting Links funding will allow the Town of Fort Frances to proceed with much-needed reconstruction of some our infrastructure and is indicative of the provincial government’s commitment to small rural Northern communities,” says Fort Frances Mayor Andrew Hallikas.
The town received funding for the design work for the Third Street W. project last year.
It is now seeking a contractor to do the project, with the selection likely to be made in July.
