Ontario is offering free fishing in honour of Father’s Day weekend.
On June 15 and 16, people are invited to fish province-wide without a fishing license.
However, a piece of government identification must be carried with you.
There are many species available to fish right now, including yellow perch, common carp, northern pike, lake trout and walleye.
Some lakes and rivers where you can find these fish are Lake Nipigon, Wabigoon Lake, or Rainy Lake.
There will be another free fishing event this year for Family Fishing Week to celebrate Canada Day. The dates are June 29 to July 7.
Outside of free fishing periods, most Canadians between the ages of 18 and 65 must have an Outdoors Card and a fishing license.
