Fort Frances town council is being asked to consider donating more to the Canada Day fireworks display.
The town makes an annual contribution of $7,500.
But organizers say while the town’s contribution has remained stable, the cost of putting on the display has more than doubled to over $22,000 in the past twenty years.
In a letter, Dave Coats adds efforts to obtain funding from other sponsors have been difficult this year.
Coats is asking for another $5,000 this year, with council considering annual allocations of $15,000 in subsequent years.
The letter goes to council on Monday.
