A reopening of the pool at the Memorial Sports Centre may not be that far away.
It has undergone extensive renovations since last November.
Operations and Facilities Manager Travis Rob says some work still needs to be done.
“The remaining work, as of right now, is to finish up the new guards on the viewing area, including glass and railings. There are two ceiling fans to be installed. Installing the pool equipment such as diving boards, ladders, guard chairs, lifts,” says Rob.
The site also needs to be fully cleaned before the public can enter.
But water should be in the pool this week.
“We’ve prioritized the cleaning of the pool area, and as of right now, the plan is to be starting to fill the pool on Friday.”
The pool was slated to open in March, but unexpected challenges during the renovations forced it to remain closed.
