Ontario Provincial Police say more than two thousand charges were laid by officers across northwestern Ontario during a Canada Day weekend enforcement campaign.
The initiative targeted poor and dangerous driving behaviour, with emphasis on impaired driving, distracted driving, aggressive driving, and seatbelt use.
A total of 1,160 charges were issued for speeding.
Nine were charged with stunt driving, which constitutes someone driving 50 kilometres per hour or more over the post speed limit of 80 km/hr or 40 km/hr or more over the speed limit of less than 80 km/hr.
OPP officers also caught 67 people for seatbelt infractions and 61 for impaired driving.
