It is still another six weeks before MPPs return to Queen’s Park.
Green Party leader Mike Schreiner feels they should return sooner.
He says it is time to get back to work.
“Everything is not okay in Ontario,” says Schreiner.
“I’ve spent the summer travelling across the province, hearing directly from the people of this province about the many challenges they’re facing and the Ford government’s failure to address those challenges, starting with the housing crisis that continues to be out of control as costs escalate.”
The Green Party leader also points to emergency room closures, nursing and doctor shortages, homelessness and incidents of mental health and addictions that continue to plague cities and towns across the province.
He feels the Premier has been absent this summer.
“The Ford government is using this time to play politics, putting themselves before the people of Ontario. They’ve spent the summer hosting Ford fests and $1,500 plate fundraisers that only the wealthy can afford and really putting themselves in their own political self-interest ahead of the people of Ontario. In short, playing politics and acting as if everything is just fine and dandy in Ontario.”
MPPs are not scheduled to be back at Queen’s Park until October 21st, though some legislative committees will resume next week.
