Fort Frances is no longer Boundless.
Town council has agreed to phase out the promotional catchphrase implemented ten years ago as part of a new economic development strategy.
It was the public’s poor perception of the phrase that led to administration recommending it be scrapped and a new one be considered.
“I agree that we haven’t had the same impact that we had hoped to have with this tagline. I really think it’s important that we listen to the public, and I’ve heard it myself as well. What does that mean?” says Brunetta.
Mayor Andrew Hallikas also supports the idea of having a new slogan.
“I think one thing we want to do, we want to stress that we’re not going to hire a bunch of consultants at large dollars. What we’re going to do is we’re going to ask for input from the community. We’re going to survey the community. We want the community’s ideas,” says Hallikas.
The services of an outside consultant were used to come up with the catchphrase and a new logo, with costs pegged at nearly $50,000
The town is keeping the logo but the word Boundless will begin to fade over time.
“That gives clear direction to administration that we can begin for the small stuff. A lot of the decal stuff is easy, you can peel off. We can do things at low cost, not totally get away from everything, but where there’s an opportunity, we can do some stuff, but not everything,” says Marcel Michaels, the town’s Chief Administrative Officer.
