The town of Fort Frances is down an ice rink.
A malfunction of equipment in the 52 Canadians Rink has forced the town of Fort Frances to shut it down until repairs can be made.
The town says that could take between four and eight weeks.
A release says getting the rink back in operation is a priority as it impacts several users.
“The Town of Fort Frances prides itself on having two arenas, and this development is a significant setback,” states the release.
“We know this is going to greatly impact ice users from our hockey teams, skate programs, figure skaters, and public skaters. This has become a priority for us as it greatly affects so many, and we’ll do everything we can to get back to regular operations as soon as reasonably possible.
Memorial Sports Centre staff is working with user groups on scheduling opportunities at the Ice for Kids Arena.
Hockey and figure skating groups were just getting their seasons started.
Organizations have asked for patience as the town works through the problems.
