A deadline is approaching for candidates interested in filling a vacancy on Atikokan town council.
Applications have to be in the clerk’s office by this Friday at 2 p.m.
Council opted to appoint someone to fill the vacancy following last month’s resignation of Kristi-Lynn McQuay.
As of Wednesday morning, just one person has filed their intention.
Alacia Henderson also ran for councillor in the 2022 municipal election.
Those interested can obtain application packages from the town clerk or deputy clerk.
If there is only one candidate, they will be acclaimed to office and appointed at the next council meeting.
If there are multiple candidates, a special meeting, tentatively set for February 3rd, will be held where candidates will present their reasons for seeking office before council votes on a preferred candidate.
