CN and the township of Emo say there is no threat to the public after fourteen cars of a CN train left the tracks early Tuesday morning.
It occurred in the west end of the community at around 7:30 a.m.
CN says all of the derailed cars were transporting potash and there were no reports of dangerous goods involved.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
There is no word on how long the clean-up will take.
The township states that it was closing Colonization Road and Canning Lane to local traffic only.
Equipment necessary for the clean-up is being unloaded by the Municipal Garage on Canning with transports to park in the arena parking lot.
A section of sidewalk on Queen Street was damaged by the derailment and is also closed to the public.
The township is asking the public to stay away from the site while the clean-up takes place.
