The Rainy River District School Board is expected to soon begin the next steps toward an expansion of Rainy River High School into a K-12 school.
The board recently received provincial funding to consolidate Rainy River High with Riverview Public School.
Education Director Heather Campbell says they’ll now work to secure an architect while in the fall form a building committee that will look at design with tendering of a contractor to follow.
Construction is expected to begin next year.
As well as developing classrooms specific for the elementary grades, Campbell says they are looking at extending the gym at Rainy River High to permit two classes to take place at the same time, expand the administration area and extend and close in the court yard.
Total cost of the project has been estimated at $10-million.
