Some good news for the forest sector.
According to WoodWorks Ontario, the number of mid-rise buildings in the province using wood is on the rise.
Spokesperson Marianne Berube says provincial legislation passed last year allowing wood to be use in buildings as tall as six stories is paying off.
Berube says when B.C. made changes to its building code, it took about two to three years before buildings started using wood use in projects.
WoodWorks has been holding workshops across the province to encourage more use of lumber in construction projects.
