The MPP for the Kiiwetinoong Riding wants Ontario’s laws in line with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
Sol Mamakwa has introduced a private members bill at Queens Park yesterday seeking just that.
“With the passage of this bill, Ontario will take a positive, concrete action towards formalizing a respectful relationship with indigenous peoples and this province,” says Mamakwa
Mamakwa also sees it as an opportunity for the Premier to affirm his commitment to Indigenous people, something the MPP feels has been lost since Doug Ford took office.
Mamakwa introduced his bill in a press conference at Queen’s Park yesterday.
