An officer with the Kenora Detachment of the OPP is facing an assault charge.
The Ontario Special Investigations Unit has charged Steve Jacko in connection with an incident that took place on December 18 in Kenora.
The SIU says a motorist drew the attention the officer and was pulled into the parking lot of a convenience store on Highway 17 east.
The investigation found there was an interaction between Jacko and the driver.
The man was arrested and taken to the Kenora Detachment, but he complained of pain and was transported to hospital.
He was later diagnosed with a serious injury.
As a result of their investigation, Jacko was charged with aggravated assault.
He’s due to appear in Kenora Court on April 25.
