Prime minister Justin Trudeau is getting some heat for comments he made last week at a fundraiser.
Trudeau dismissed a couple of protesters demanding justice for Grassy Narrows First Nation on Wednesday.
Trudeau reportedly told them “thanks for your $1.500 donation” as they were ushered out of the room.
Grand Chief of Treaty #3 Frances Kavanaugh says he was dismayed and disheartened that the prime minister made what calls deriding and disrespectful comments.
He adds the federal government has to be reminded of its promise to fund a mercury treatment facility in the Grassy Narrows.
Trudeau did later apologize for his comments.
