Some attention is being drawn to the issues that children, youth and families face when seeking mental health in Ontario.
This is Children’s Mental Health Week .
Supervisor of Clinical and Community Services at Kenora Rainy River District Child and Family Services Krista Ling says it’s an important issue to bring attention to.
“It has been an issue that has been stigmatized in the past and I think it’s very important that we speak about this out in the open and support our families and our youth in the community,” says Ling.
One of the ways they agency is doing this is through radio segments.
“Our clinicians are sort of taking turns. We have a different person for every day to talk about a topic and then have a question of the day to promote awareness and some understanding about the issues that you could be facing.”
Those segments are airing on 93.1. The Border all this week.
