Fort Frances Fire and Rescue Service has won council’s approval to recover the costs of fighting a structural fire by making a claim through one’s insurance company.
Fire Chief Tyler Moffitt reinterated at council’s meeting Monday night a homeowner won’t lose out on the size of their claim by the department issuing a bill.
“We had our deputy treasuruer get a hold of Gillon’s and they got back immediately basically saying it would be part of the same claim as most insurance companies have it in the policy,” says Moffitt.
Moffitt says Thunder Bay and a number of other area departments are also recovering costs through insurance.
