Some false 911 calls have OPP issuing a reminder about the importance of using 911 only in an emergency.
Police have received both accidental calls and calls for non-emergency reasons.
OPP say this only ties up emergency lines, communicators and officers which could result in a slower response to a real emergency.
Police also ask parents to remind their children cellphones are not toys and avoid them playing with old ones as they still have the potential of dialing 911 even without the SIM card.
