Borderland Pride has its first ever Grand Marshall for its upcoming Pride Week.
Curler Trevor Bonot of Stratton will be the ceremonial leader for the Passport to Pride March which will take place June 8 from International Falls to Fort Frances.
Bonot says he’s honoured to be selected.
“It’s very special. Being able to you know go back to the Borderland and Stratton and Fort Frances and to be a part of a great event is quite an honour,” says Bonot.
Borderland Pride plans to name Grand Marshals each year to recognize the achievements of LGBTQ2 individuals or its supportors.
Bonot, who lives in Thunder Bay, has made a name for himself in the curling ranks.
In 2017, curling with his sister Jackie McCormick, Bonot skipped Canada’s team to the final of the World Mixed Curling Championship in Switzerland where they won silver.
