The provincial government has finally given approval for the Rainy River District School Board to proceed with construction of a new consolidated school in Rainy River.
Approval was announced in a Ministry of Education release issued Friday.
An upgrade and expansion of Rainy River High School will turn it into a K-12 school.
The Board has been waiting for approval to tender the project since submitted their plans to Ministry last October.
It has been given the okay two years ago to look at bringing together the community’s elementary school, Riverview, with Rainy River High.
