The provincial government is looking at an overhaul of a major funding program for our region.
Northern Development Minister and Kenora-Rainy River MPP Greg Rickford believes the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund is undersubscribed in this area.
Rickford says there’s two questions he hopes to get answered
“How are we working with our community partners to do better? And is the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund serving our communities and businesses the right way?” says Rickford.
The Rickford hints a new look Fund could make recreational infrastructure upgrades eligible for funding.
Currently they are not.
Rickford says the government is still seeking feedback on how to improve the program before any changes are made.
