Red Lake and Dryden have declared States of Emergency to assist with the evacuation of residents from Pikangikum because of a large forest fire near their community.
Both communities are acting as transportation hubs for aircraft flying people out and onto Kapaskasing and Hearst.
The declarations allow them to recoup costs from the provincial and federal governments.
Another forest fire near Keewaywin First Nation has forced residents there to flee to Sioux Lookout and Timmins.
Some evacuees are also expected to arrive in Thunder Bay.
Meantime, there were three more forest fires for the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry to contend with.
It included a small blaze near Price Lake, about 44 kilometres west of Atikokan, which as of this morning was listed as under control.
They are now 21 active fires, five of which are not under control.
The forest fire hazard is predominantly high to extreme across the region, but rain is in the forecast for the next few days.
