A test of Ontario’s power grid is taking place today.
The Independent Electricity System Operator is reducing the voltage by three per cent this morning and then by five per cent in the afternoon as part of a mandatory test of its emergency operating procedures.
Officials says the reduction lowers demand quickly and minimizes the likelihood of a power interruption.
The IESO says the tests should not have any impact on the public.
