NDP leader Andrea Horwath is calling on the Ford Government to take action to help Attawapiskat with its water crisis.
She visited the community yesterday and was told about how residents fear the water since it gives off noxious gases.
Horwath wants the province to pay for clean, safe drinking water in First Nation communities and then send the bill to Ottawa.
Attawapiskat First Nation declared a state of emergency last week because of high levels of chemicals found in their water.
The official opposition leader says it is unacceptable people are afraid to bathe their babies in their own tap water.
She calls it a provincial and national shame communities don’t have safe drinking water.
Meanwhile, Horwath spoke with Bombardier workers last night and says they’ve been warning anyone who would listen that layoffs were coming.
The NDP leader calls on the provincial and federal government to stop blaming each other for the layoffs.
Horwath wants the Premier to ensure bi-level Metrolinx trains are tendered and the TTC is put in a position to move forward on tendering transit cars.
She says the federal Liberal government is wasting time playing a political blame game.
