The annual Moose and Fiddle Music Festival gets underway today at Caliper Lake Provincial Park in Nestor Falls.
This is the sixth year for the event.
Town planner for the municipality of Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls Jeff Port says this is the little festival that could.
“Year two or three, when theĀ festival clearly had some longevity, our objective would be to focus on quality as opposed to quantity. We can only put so many people in the festival site and our goal is always been about fifteen hundred people,” says Port.
The festival is expected to attract as many as 1,500 over the two days.
Port says the festival has become as big as they want.
“A lot of people will come in from Fort (Frances), will come in from Kenora, and simply travel back and forth. What we’re finding more and more, many people are now staying at the private resorts and campgrounds in Nestor Falls. In fact, I think Sioux Narrows Provincial Park is very close to being full this weekend as well.”
Some of the acts tonight include the Fu Fu Chi Chi Choir, Coco Love Alcorn and Carly Dow.
