Communication between the town of Fort Frances and Riversedge Developments appears to have come to a standstill.
Mayor June Caul says there have been no discussions with developer Justus Veldman in almost seven weeks.
“The last time we met he was going to meet bi-weekly with us. He was going to take me to Sault Ste. Marie to show me the wonderful area there that’s been done at St. Mary’s Paper,” says Caul
So far, none of that has taken place.
In the meantime, Caul says since some pieces of heavy equipment have been removed from the mill property.
She’s also spoken with officials in other communities where Veldman and his firm have done work.
“We’ve been in contact with Red Rock, Sault Ste, Marie, Iroquois Falls, places that he’s been in before and it’s been a disaster in those areas.”
