A National Day For Truth And Reconciliation Event will be taking place on Friday, September 30th.
Join various local groups and organization within our area in remembering the history of residential schools, honouring the ones that did not make it home, and celebrating the survivors.
AWARENESS WALK
9:00am to 12:00pm
The group awareness walk will start at the Sorting Gap Marina and proceed to the Residential School Monument at the Nanicost Grounds.
A limited number of orange shirts will be provided.
LUNCH AND SPEAKERS
12:00 to 2:00pm
Come and hear our Elders share their healing stories. Sacred fire and drum will be present after the walk.
People are encouraged to bring their own chairs. A limited number of grab-and-go lunches will be provided (one per individual).
POWWOW
2:00 to 10:00pm
The powwow will take place at the Nanicost Grounds.
Honourariums will be available for dancers and first 10 drums.
A fish fry supper will be provided at 5pm.
